Background
The Careers and Employability Service at TUS Midwest provides expert career guidance to help students explore various career paths, industries and job opportunities. This service offers limitless one-one appointments. These appointments are offered both on-campus and online. The Careers officers provide strengths based coaching and provide students with a self-assessment toolkit, where students can assess their own strengths and abilities. The Careers and Employability Service at TUS Midwest also offer workshops, and training sessions to enhance students employability skills such as communication, leadership, team-work and problem solving.
The Service also supports students in securing work placements/experience, during the course of their studies. (Work placement is a fundamental element to the majority of University courses) Work Placements during college provide valuable industry experience and networking opportunities. These practical experiences are highly regarded by employers can lead to future job offers.
The Careers Officers also assist students with creating an effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) and cover letter which can be tailored to match specific job applications. A professionally tailored CV can significantly increase a student’s chances of being shortlisted for interview. The service also offers interview preparation. This can help students to gain more confidence and to improve their interview skills.
The Careers and Employability Service also organises networking events and career fairs, which enables students to connect with potential employers and expland their professional industry connections. The service will also continously update students about industry trends, job market changes and emerging career opportunities across the different sectors.
