TUS Midwest offers a large variety of academic, sporting, cultural and social life for your third-level experience. Our 23/24 handbook contains very useful information about campus life, support services, study guides, student policies and much more. Below are some of the facilities and service we have to offer.
Background
TUS Midwest has six campuses, with a population of over 14,000 students from a wide variety of different backgrounds and cultures, and we employ approximately 2000 staff. This means the campuses can be very busy at times.
The six campuses are made up of the Moylish ,Clare Street and Georges quay campuses located in Co. Limerick. Thurles and Clonmel campuses are located in Co. Tipperary and the Ennis campus is located in Co. Clare.

Additional Educational Programs provided by TUS Midwest includes, the Apprenticeships Courses. The practical education programmes are a blended combination of on-the-job employer-based training and classroom-based contact. Designed by industry-led groups, our apprenticeships are run in co-operation with carefully-chosen companies.

Access to Apprenticeship
Additional academic programs available at TUS Midwest includes the- Access to Apprenticeship Programme. The (ATA) supports the transition of young people (16-24 years old) from disadvantaged backgrounds into an apprenticeship scheme. It is a 12-week full-time programme and is delivered by the Dept. of Built Environment on the TUS Moylish campus, Limerick city. Please see video below for more insight-

Canteen
The canteens at the TUS Midwest campuses are important for providing nutritious meals, convenience, a sense of community, cultural exchange, informal learning environments, and support for students well-being, as well as creating a vibrant and inclusive campus atmosphere.
There are various catering outlets available across the TUS Midwest campuses. The canteens play a significant role in providing essential services and fulfilling the needs of students and staff. The catering outlets available on campus offer a convenient and accessible place for students to obtain nourishing meals and snacks, catering for different dietary preferences. Ensuring students have access to balanced and wholesome food options, which are crucial for maintaining good health, as well as sustaining energy levels.
STUDENT UNION
The Students’ Union at TUS Midwest serves as the official representative for the student community and plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall university experience. The Student Union acts as a strong advocate for students’ rights, interests and concerns. It represents the collective voice of the student body and works with the University staff to address issues related to academics, campus facilities, student welfare, and campus policies. The Student Union fosters a sense of community and belonging among student. Organising various social and cultural events, clubs and activities that bring students together, promoting friendship, networking and a vibrant campus life.

Clubs and Societies
Clubs and societies play a crucial role in your University experience, offering numerous benefits to students.
Joining a club or society allows students to connect with like-minded individuals who share similar interests or passions. It provides a platform for social interaction, fostering friendships and connections that can last beyond the third level journey. Students have the opportunity to expand their social networks, develop communication and teamwork skills and enriching the educational journey.
The clubs and societies offered across the TUS Midwest campuses cover a wide range of interests, hobbies and disciplines, allowing students to explore new areas or delve deeper into their existing passions. Whether it is sports, arts, academic subjects, cultural activities, these groups provide a platform for students to pursue their interests, discover new talents and engage in activities beyond their academic studies. Third level can be demanding and clubs and societies can serve as a source of stress relief, offering enjoyable activities and a break from academic study.

TUS Midwest Sports Facilities
The sports and gym facilities at TUS Midwest play a crucial role in promoting physical health, mental well-being, teamwork, personal development, campus community and healthy lifestyle education. They contribute to creating a vibrant, holistic and supportive college environment that supports both students and staff.
TUS Midwest has an impressive range of sports facilities for students, including three full size pitches and an all-weather playing pitch, as well as a fully equipped gym and indoor sports hall. Please see virtual tour of the TUS | Sports Facilities on our Moylish campus).
Thurles Campus
The ‘SportsLab’ is an elite, state-of-the-art sports strength and conditioning facility at TUS Thurles. Among its facilities in the 2,000 square metre SportsLab are: a unique 3D Organic Motion Capture System for motion analysis, a 45m six lane sprint track especially designed to improve speed, a Paralympic area, cable machines, a range of sport technology systems, including micro electro mechanical systems and GPS systems; Olympic lifting platform; five functional screening kits; weights and the full range of exercise machines. The SportsLab is one of the finest facilities in the country and greatly enhances the practical learning skills of our Sports Strength and Conditioning students, and is also used by many sports teams.
How could this affect me?
The campus is bigger than you might be used to at School or College and getting lost is common for new students and when timetables change. Becoming familiar with key buildings and locations may help you to prepare.
